The 1998 Games in Yellowknife included fewer adult categories and had seven contingents participating in 19 sports: badminton, basketball, cross country skiing, curling, Dene Games, dog mushing, figure skating, gymnastics, hockey, indoor soccer, Inuit Games, shooting, ski biathlon, snowshoe biathlon, snowshoeing, speed skating, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling. These were the last Games in Northwest Territories before the division created two territories (Nunavut and Northwest Territories).
