14 sports, badminton, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, hockey, indoor soccer, Inuit Games, shooting, snowshoe biathlon, snowshoeing, speed skating, triathlon, volleyball, were played at the 1984 Games. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies were held in the new Yellowknife Community Arena. The three original contingents Alaska, Northwest Territories and Yukon sent 900 participants.
