The 1992 Games in Whitehorse included sport participants from Russia (Magadan) and Greenland including cultural participants. Their participation, helped attract national media, both print and television, to cover the Games. The Whitehorse Host Society also had increased access to corporate sponsorship due to the added attraction of the international participants. 17 sports were showcased, including badminton, basketball, cross country skiing, curling, Dene Games, dog mushing, figure skating, gymnastics, hockey, indoor soccer, Inuit Games, shooting, ski biathlon, snowshoe biathlon, snowshoeing, volleyball and wrestling.
