1994
In 1994, following Greenland officially joining as a full partner in 1993, the Government of Alberta received approval to bring participants from the province of Tyumen in Russia to help build upon the economic exchange programs between the two governments. The first Games hosted in Alberta included 20 sports: alpine skiing, badminton, basketball, cross country skiing, curling, Dene Games, dog mushing, figure skating, gymnastics, hockey, indoor soccer, Inuit Games, shooting, ski biathlon, snowshoe biathlon, snowshoeing, speed skating, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling.
