They came from far and near. They came from Alaska, Northwest Territories and Yukon. They came by car, by plane and by foot, and at the beginning last night when the Arctic Winter Games were officially opened for 1980, they walked hundreds strong, with sparklers burning, in a long, long parade, and the pipers played.
